Chapter Bylaws
BYLAWS OF THE PUGET SOUND CHAPTER, TRADITIONAL SMALL CRAFT ASSOCIATION, INC. Established July, 1997. Revised Nov 22, 2003
ARTICLE I The name of this organization will be THE PUGET SOUND CHAPTER. It shall function as a chapter of the national organization, The Traditional Small Craft Association, Inc., hereafter called the Association.
ARTICLE II - DEFINITION For all purposes hereof, "traditional small craft" shall mean boats built for sail or manual propulsion, from designs established prior to the development of the marine gasoline engine. Modern or historical variants or adaptations of traditional designs fall within this definition. This emphasis on design heritage does not reflect on construction materials or techniques.
ARTICLE III - PURPOSES
[same as the national Association] The purpose of the Association is to encourage the construction and use of traditional small craft. The Association shall also function as a spokesman for traditional small craft builders, owners, and enthusiasts on any subject that pertains to traditional small craft. This will include communicating with regulatory authorities, legislators, corporations, and trade associations to express the Association's point of view on legislation, regulations, or the interpretation thereof, which legislation or regulations pertain to traditional small craft.
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES
The officers of this chapter shall be a designated spokesman/president, and such other officers as the chapter deems necessary. The designated spokesperson shall have attained the age of 18; this restriction does not apply to any other elected or appointed officers. The designated spokesman's duty shall be to act as liaison between this chapter and the national Association, and to serve as the contact person for others in the local area in need of information concerning this chapter.
ARTICLE V - MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
1. Any person who supports the purposes of TSCA is eligible for membership in the Puget Sound Chapter.
2. The chapter may elect to collect dues for its own operation, independent of the national dues. The chapter may also choose to combine local and national dues, and forward the portion representing the national dues to the Treasurer, TSCA, PO Box 350, Mystic, Conn. 06355, on a yearly basis.
3. The chapter acknowledges that its financial activities are independent of the national Association, and, aside from the business of dues, there is no financial relationship between the chapter and the national Association.
ARTICLE VI - AMENDMENT OF BYLAWS
The bylaws may be amended at any meeting of the chapter, provided notice of the proposed amendments is made to each member 10 days before such meeting, and a copy of the changes approved by the chapter be filed with the national Association within 30 days of such change.
ARTICLE VII - DISCONTINUANCE
1. Whenever a chapter has less than five national members, it will be notified by the Chapter Coordinator that it's affiliation will be terminated after thirty days, unless the minimum of five members is reestablished.
2. The chapter may terminate its status with the national Association upon six months notice in writing to the Chapter Coordinator, and the national Association may discontinue affiliation with a chapter with six months written notice. The purpose of the Association is to encourage the construction and use of traditional small craft. The Association shall also function as a spokesman for traditional small craft builders, owners, and enthusiasts on any subject that pertains to traditional small craft.
